Cue Lightbulb!

I've had an idea and it's been fermenting in my brain for a couple weeks now and I think I've got it all sorted out.

I think that we should make a sort of "Vestal" zine with an events calendar for all the things happening in the tri-cities/nearby that might interest us, stories, articles, reflections on news stories, movie reviews - ANYTHING! I mean, wouldn't it be great to find a million things to do in one little "magazine"? I'm sure I can send out the first issue without it costing any of you anything, but after that I may have to charge postage. I'm not that rich, you know.

Well, it's an idea and I think it would be really fun to make, but I wouldn't do anything before running it by all of you.

I need you to let me know if you would be interested in contributing or getting the 'zine or if you think it's a stupid idea and wouldn't care. Constructive criticism and feedback are NEEDED for my sanity welcome.

Thanks in advance!

That is all.

It would most certainly be an interesting experiment. Even in a relatively quiet, small area like Vestal, there can be many things that could be going on that could be worthy of being mentioned on such a periodical. This might be especially useful at times other than during the winter, when poor road conditions could be an inconvenience. Although there is a considerable amount of information that could potentially be included, they're scattered around a great deal, so collecting them into a magazine might be a good idea. The only two things that I would worry about are

a) How are you going to print entire magazines/how long are they going to be?

b) How frequently will they be distributed?

Ah! Yes, you bring up fair points:

a) We get free paper from the university at my house and we can always tailor the type font size to fit the space we choose to have... Their length would really depend on thge contributions, but I wouldn't think any more than 8 pages for the first issue (and we'd be printing front and back). It wouldn't be a full size thing, of course, but more like an 8x5.5 booklet).

b) I would think at least once a month - maybe every other week. Again, it depends on the contributions.
